Top ten animated series:

Duckman:

Crude, vulgar, witty, and as bitingly funny today as it was when it first aired, a true animation classic

Simpsons:

17 years later I still laugh at the antics of Homer, et all. While there have been some clunkers among the mix. I still look forward to seeing this one each week, and still break out my tapes of seasons 1 through 12 and watch them over and over. Take that Maynard G Krebs!

Futurama:

I love this show. I miss it dearly. Sci-fi parodies rule!

Tripping the Rift:

Sick, wrong and oh so f***in funny. Buy the uncensored ones boys and girls.

Dilbert:

Who would've thought that this would work as a 30 minute animated series. Great show!

Beavis and Butthead:

Funny on multiple levels. Rewatching these I am finding things I didn't catch when I was a younger lad. This show cracks me up, and has a lot more truth in it's characterizations than some people would care to admit.

The Brak Show:

So bizarre it brings a smile to my face and who doesn't like Zorak. Really who? C'mon you gotta tell me buddy.

Sealab 2021:

I can't get enough of this show.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force:

Being someone who enjoys a good non-sequitor this show is right up my alley. This show goes so far into left field sometimes that it comes back through right field. Not for everyone, but I really dig it.

Stripperella:

Ok, maybe no the best animated show, but I get a kick out of it, let's call this one 10 with an * by it, for honerable mention.
Still way better than Tom Goes to The Mayor. And I actually get a couple good laughs when I watch Stipperella. It's definitely above average.

So I now open this up for discussion. Let the games begin.

Everybody has different ideas about comedy. Laughter is a pretty universal thing, at one point or another most people enjoy a good laugh. But what is funny? What makes a person laugh out loud, bust a gut, guffaw?What is it that makes us laugh?

So with this thought in mind, I'm opening up the topic to the readers... What makes you laugh?

I'll start this one out. Some things that make me laugh are things that are ridiculously absurd, a non-sequitor, a remark that is totally out of character for a person.

Hope everyone had a good 4th of july.

I think today is a good day to reflect on just how free we are, and how good we have it. no matter how good or bad things are for us, things could definitely be worse, think of people dying every day from malnutrition, suffering from devastating losses due to disasters such as Katrina, living in countries such as North Korea where freedom of expression or dissenting opinion is forbidden, for all it's flaws we do live in a pretty great country. If it wasn't, why would everyone be risking everything including their lives to be here. Try not to take all the good things you have for granted.

Today a woman in the trailer court my ex lives decided to pitch a fit that we were walking on the edge of her yard, which is along the main street. since there is no sidewalk there, it is the only place you can walk on that side of the road.
Said person constantly lets her dog run loose and it has in the past bit someone, so I have to ask why anyone should repect anything she has to say about the matter, but that's only one of my complaints...
Since when did people stop talking to each other and instead shout demands at people. If she had come out and said please don't walk here, I probably would have apologized and crossed the street, but instead I kept walking to the end of her yard, and called her a bitch, not my best moment, but I don't take kindly to being shouted at from someone's window especially when I was really within my rights to walk there due to the lack of sidewalk..
Being nice to people gets you better results.... just a thought....

So I did something REALLY embarassing, I went through Checkout at Wal-Mart and went to pay and my wallet was empty. My habit of not putting my money back in my wallet when I get change back, had finally come back to bite me in the butt. I had to explain, ashamedly to the clerk that I could not pay for what I got, and would have to come back. Worse was that I was running behind this morning and was going to be running errands so I threw on sweats and a t-shirt, and did not look my best by any means or standards, so I'm sure the clerk had pleasant thoughts about me, as I left with my head held low... I will probably laugh about it this afternoon, but I feel really dumb at the moment.

Crazy days, crazy nights...

Was going to take T to Dubuque tonight, by this afternoon, a change in plans warranted going to Davenport instead.

Took T to Mr Wong's magic shop. Way cool place.

Ate dinner at Checkers, which has the best Chili Cheese Fries I have ever had... They also have pepperjack as an option for their double cheese burgers.. Yum!!! I will pay for that meal all nite I imagine with heartburn like no other... It was Sooo worth it...

Got home around 9:30..

A friend inquired why could not im me on myspace... had no idea that was even an option. fixed the problem on my end but then she could not send ims on her end. tried for half an hour, realized would be easier just to talk on the phone. tried to call but couldn't get thru.... technology is wonderful isnt it? :)

I am already worn out from this week... and it's only Wednesday.....

The 3 Burials of Marqualades Estrada

Saw this last night.. I don't normally go for dramas, because I've been burned by sitting through too many terrible ones.. This one was not the case.. This was a really good movie... Themes of revenge, redemption, police cover-ups... you name it... Haven't always been much of a Tommy Lee Jones fan, but he does a really good job in this movie..

I would recommend this one...

VIDEO GAMES :

Pikmin 2 just dropped down to 19.99 at best buy so I had to get it, since I've been wanting ior a while. What a great game! It even manages to have a ton of product placement such as Duracell batteries, and Kiwi shoe polish, without ticking me off or distracting from the game play. That's a rarity...

If you have a Game Cube why don't you own this game!!!

COMICS:

Wonder Woman #1

Didn't have a new enough take to warrant a new # 1 IMHO, but it was decent, will wait and see if the story goes anywhere interesting or not..

If you are bored get it, if not you won't miss anything...

Civil War #2

I hate, hate, hated Civil War #1, but got suckered into the hype and bought #2, better, but at $3.99 an issue, it needs to be a hell-uve a lot better to keep me buying...

With almost 1000 hits, I am thinking of making a change. Mathman inadvertantly sparked this thought. You see I have run into a snag on my myspace account. I was using it to post my comic book pages, and just found out I have a 12 picture maximum which simply won't do.. I also have been finding myself using the myspace account, a little more for personal stuff than I planned. So I am thinking of doing a swop. I am thinking of doing my personal blogging on myspace and posting comic pages here instead.... I haven't made up mind to do this for sure yet.. but it's looking like that's what i will probably do... I should come to a decision next week.

I used to dismiss that idea, but looking back at all the times, that i've been at the right place at the right time to help out when it's needed, particularly when it's been times I hadn't planned on being in those places, but last minute circumstances changed my plans. I'd have to say that there must really be something to it.

Sure you can chalk it up to coincidence, but when it happens a lot, you start to wonder.

Call it destiny, or fate... I dunno.. i just can't believe that everything is random and left to chance...

Burger King: Time for regime change?

The true threat isn't from the middle east, it's right here @ home. He hides behind his shakes and his wmfd.. (weapons of massively fried deliciousness) He's cruel and sadistic, plying his people with cheap and yummy food. But should he remain in power? ECW RETURNS!!!

So did anyone else watch ECW on Sci-Fi last night? I had never watched ECW in it's previous run, but I liked what I saw last night. All I have to say is that when I saw the Extreme Battle Royale, it wasn't as brutal as I thought it would be but there definitely some HFS moments. It was also good to see Al Snow, and Stevie Richards wrestling again.

Why is it that we raise our children to be afraid of the human body? We all have a human body (at least I hope so). Nature makes it pretty obvious that men and women are different, yet society tells us not to notice and to look away.

Every year millions of dollars are spent on adult entertainment by people wanting to see what the big fuss is about (or to get a few tips, but that's another story).

Who would have thought that Christianity and the Adult Industry would have a common purpose? The purpose to keep everyone clothed in public. Christians do this for so-called moral purposes, the Adult Industry does this for financial gain, because if nudity is no longer taboo, they won't make money. Strange bedfellows indeed.

So I say Fight the Power! Get naked already!

Went to fat wally's and played pool and darts with Homercles. It was not my night for pool unfortunately. While I also did not win at darts, I did fare better. After that we grabbed a snack at Gringo's which I highly recommend. I had not eaten there in probably 7 years or more. It's unfortunate that the downtown area doesn't have a lot to offer if you are looking for somewhere other than a bar to go to.

So, I watched the new Sarah Silverman dvd last night, and i can't rave about it enough. Sarah Silverman is fast becoming my favorite stand up comedianne. She is so sick and wrong, it's almost like we are soulmates.... except she doesn't know who i am, and stalking is sooo last year.... I gotta say, she is fairly attractive... but it is so weird, i could care less about looks.. (within reason... I wouldn't go out with someone who would shatter mirrors with their looks.. but that aside.) But i would rather be with someone moderately attractive, yet funny and smart, then a brain dead manequin of a girl, whose neurons misfire if she chews gum while walking. because you can't have a serious conversation with anyone who starts their sentences with .. "like.. omigod.." or "So i was like..." or "me.. go out with you? as if...?" or even.. "i'm calling the police if you don't go away".. you know that kind of thing....

Anyway, If you want to laugh and are not easily offended.. Sarah Silverman delivers.... (now if she would only return my calls.. and not through her lawyer.. that doesn't count... )

Weather is such an odd thing, ungodly hot one day, the next, cold and rainy. Mother nature has some serious mood swings. get that girl some antidepresents or something. The funniest thing about rain to me is to see grown adults running from their cars to get inside as if it rained on them, they would melt or something. How the heck do these people shower if they are that afraid of a few drops of rain? apparently the formula is fresh water coming down on you outside = bad, tap water (possibly contaminated) coming down on you while standing inside a small cubicle in your home = good. Maybe it's the nudity factor. Some scientist somewhere should waste my tax dollars to find a reason for this. I can hear the pork barrel spending calling to my senator now...

Garage Sale.. Day 2

The former Mrs asked me to watch her garage sale because she had to go out of town for work. 2 days, 5 customers and a whopping $3. It's almost like working a temp job except no one cares if i take a break whenever i feel like it. :) Not much else going on with me, a friend is supposed to be bringing the new sarah silverman dvd over tonight, and I am going to introduce him to the strangeness that is the movie Cecil B. Demented. good times, good times...

Things to do when you are bored...

Section one.. Things to do with poker chips.

1. Fling them one at a time and people while shouting.. "beware the wrath of the mighty gamblor.."

2. keep pocketful of them onhand when out shopping so that when the clerk tells you what you owe, pull one out and say "i'll raise you 5..."

3. if you have friends over put them in a bowl and hand them out.. cheerfully asking.. "who wants chips?"

Section 2... if you have a mini tape recorder...

1. Walk down the street asking people for an interview.

2. record half a conversation on it, pausing for your answers so that later you can walk around talking to yourself

Section 3... if you have plastic silverware....

1. go to a kfc and place a to go order, when they hand you silverware say "no thanks, i brought my own"

2. sit outside a nice restaurant, holding your silverware and stare in the window at people eating.

Section 4.... Miscellaneous...

1... Make a necklace out of sample size spoons..

2... walk around a bar, asking people if they are gonna finish their drinks cause you sure are thirsty.

3.... go to the library and read the newspaper from back to front instead of front to back, making sure people see you. if they ask tell them you are from japan, and add the word cracker for effect..

4... this one requires too friends, write out an entire conversation, give one half to each person. walk around downtown, and time it so that your conversation matches up everytime you pass each other, so that when you are apart it looks like you are talking to yourself, but together you are having a conversation.

5... hug a midget.. (ask permission first)

6... ask strangers if they want a stick of gum. if they answer yes.. ask them if they have any because you left yours at home..

7... buy bulk candy.. 1 piece at a time...

8... carry around a bag of klondike bars and ask people on the street what they would do for a klondike bar..

I don't really have a problem with this as a whole, but my biggest concern is why? The article says it's to give her a different point of view, like somehow being female doesn't give her enough of a different point of view versus how batman sees things. It feels like they are stacking the deck to hammer people on the head and say "hey look at her, she's completely different from batman and to prove it she competes with batman to get the ladies" because they think people are too stupid to get that she is a different character. I really hate it when characters are given what can be considered controversial personality traits solely to sell a book. And while this might not be why this is being done, it sures feels like it on the surface. Maybe DC will prove me wrong. I hope so, but I won't hold my breath.

live from the public library via wi-fi it's..... CAPTAIN CREATIVE... (applause)... it's nice to know that even if you can't access the internet at home, that you can grab the laptop and find somewhere that you can... having said that, it's funny how many other wi-fi networks are popping up as available while i am at the good old CRPL. all of them unsecured and i'm sure some of them are someone's home networks. kinda scary that people aren't taking the time to secure their networks. theoretically, i probably could access the net from most of c.r. food for thought, or whatever the hell that means, i guess...

p.s. anyone wanna hire me? I am still looking to gainfully employed and yet... here I am... not so much.... ****sigh***

I remember in the 80's all the great raunchy liberal comedians that were out there, now the big acts are crap like the redneck comedy tour. WTF. Liberals used to be the biggest chunk of comedians, now they are the ones who are all PC and telling people what they should and shouldn't laugh about. C'mon people this isn't hard, liberals should be funny and the rest of us should be fodder for the comedians. It's just the way of the world. Instead Eddie F'n Murphy does kids movies.... Had a busy Saturday! Went to Free Comic Book day in the morning at local comic shop Alter-Ego. There was a decent crowd there. Ran into Homercles at the shop. Took T home and headed to Dubuque for a wedding reception for an old friend. Left 2 hours early to try to hit the comic shop in Dubuque. Upon arrival could not find said shop and drove around aimlessly until 3:30 when I found it, got there and all of their comics were half off due to the owner's birthday and got some more free comics to boot. they were insanely slow about checking people out. I then got a little lost trying to get back to the reception at Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino. Arrived there and met up with Mathman and Mel, (hm... Sounds like either a sitcom or a superhero team..) and sat with them for the reception. Had a wonderful meal and managed to sneak out a few times to do some gambling and managed to win about $50 [which pretty much paid my gas there and back.. :) ]. headed home and let my poor dog out of his kennel. He had been in there abt 10 hours and REAALLLLY had to go at that point. Took him for a long walk in the neighborhood which I had never done since I moved to my new apt in January. My street is pretty dead after 12 AM apparently.

WHEWW!! getting tired just thinking about yesterday....

comics fans, do you remember the world's first all digital comic. published originally by First Comics this book was fully illustrated on a 1st generation Mac. I read a couple of these years ago and really liked it. Shatter will be reprinted later this year by AIT/Liar comics. If you like comics (not just superhero ones) check this one out.

Went to the last day before they close sale at Sam Goody and I found the oddest thing. Apparently one of my teachers from my days at Kirkwood Community College has recorded a CD. Even weirder was that when I bought it, (Because the thought of it was too bizarre not to) the clerk commented that that was his current teacher and he had someone run over and grab a copy of it off the shelf for him to buy. He said he was going to have it autographed. What a weird coincindence.

Ok.. So this may sound strange... but have you gotten ready to squish a bug and decided instead to have pity on it and throw it outside? I found an ant in the house today, and my normal thought was squish and forget.. but then I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It wasn't really doing anything.. just walking around so i put it outside. I'm not sure why I took pity on the thing. it was just an ant after all, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. kinda weird. I recently got ahold of the movie "Song of The South". The infamous disney movie they don't want you to see. I plan on watching it tonight. I haven't seen it since I was little. I know some people are offended by this movie. I want to judge for myself. Sometimes in the face of all the rhetoric, and all the bitterness everyone tosses at each other, the best way to take a stand against it all is to sit back and let the work speak to you in it's own words. I firmly believe that if we don't open our minds to what is out there good or bad, and instead lock everything away that might offend someone then we truly are not living up to the intentions of this country. One day it's a movie you shouldn't be allowed to see, the next an image, the next a book. With every horror that takes place throughout the world daily I cherish dearly the freedom I have to decide what does and does not offend me, not what someone else tells me should offend me. I hope we never lose that right.

I know.. I know... I haven't posted anything thus far, the holiest of holy marketing days at least in spring time. A time.. when young minds turn to biting ears off chocolate rabbits, and aww.. mom... do I have to go to church? I just couldn't really find anything to say to today. I must have liked this holiday at one time I am sure, but now it just seems really artificial. I think I truly have lost the ability to really get much out of any holiday. I do like doing things with the wee one, and he is excited whenever a holiday hits, but they just leave me cold. On the plus side I am finally feeling better which is a wonderful thing. I will be glad I am back to being 100% of my usual obnoxious self.

i'm lettin my comic book geek out for a minute. all non comic fans refer to my many other posts if you would like as this may not interest you.. I managed to get ahold of the entire run to date of "Y the Last Man" and could not stop reading it, I finally stopped myself about halfway through the run, issue 22, because I've got some other stuff I need to do before I go to bed. What a great series! This is one of the better comic runs I've read in quite some time. The premise is that all men but one have died due to a plague, and the majority of the world doesn't know about the one still living. If you are a comic book fan who likes something just a little different, this is a must read... Ok.. back to my regular format.. if i had one that is......

Ok.. I am really bummed out. I have been having friends over every weekend to hang out and this is the first weekend in quite a while that i've had to cancel. Day 3 of feeling like crap.

Am feeling a little better tho. Hopefully am on the mend. I see I am now over the 100 hits mark. Woo-hoo triple digits. It's absolutely both gorgeous and excessively hot out today. upper 80's in april and in iowa to boot, will wonders ever cease. Couldn't sleep well last night, had lots of good ideas to post at the time and now that am finally at the computer i can't remember a damn one of them. isn't that just ducky!

Some of my friends are actually free today due to good friday, and I am sick. Probably not sick enough to not go out, but I don't want to make anyone else sick so am staying home anyway. This sucks.

i am challenging anyone out there that is not currently posting comments to my blog to leave some, let me know what you think. I can take criticism, I've been married.. (just kidding... about which part though, i'll let you guess...)

So, it dawned on me that I think I know why people fear death so much. If you think about it, death is the only human experience that you cannot find anyone who has died and lived to tell about it. Any other human experience can be related to by someone else, somewhere on the planet except death. It's not like someone was dead for 2 years and came back on wrote a book on it. we're all in the same area of darkness when it comes to death. Sure, everyone has their thoughts and opinions but no one really knows for sure despite all of the major religions best claims. Any thoughts on this?

I used to not give any creedence to this until they had a tornado across the highway from me about 2 years ago. I still think that there is an overreaction but I think it comes from people always complaining about the news, govt etc... underreacting to things like this. You just can't win when it comes to public opinion. Thank god I could care less about public opinion. I'd be an anarchist but it sounds like too much work. I want to complain without actually having to do anything about it. My job is to be the idea man let the others do the real work.less blame that way. creativity cave

What a way to end the day. Nothing like being sick and having to haul yourself to a storm shelter. I swear people are so inconsiderate. There were radios on to hear the weather to know when we could leave but no one could hear them because everyone was acting like a bunch of kindergardeners chatting over lunch. felt rough this morning but a couple dayquil and some oj seemed to help. caught an hour nap this morning. wanted to get 2 in, but my neighbors above decided that playing rap music with the bass cranked up to the point of vibrating my apt walls was more important.
